The Flamenco is not only a traditional dance from Andalusia, Extremadura and Murcia (Spain), but also a typical singing. Its origin is still controversial to this day and there are different opinions about it. For example the lexicon of RAE (Real Academia Español) says that the flamenco is due to the gypys. But of all assumptions of the origin in general there is one which is the most well-known, namely that it comes from the Moors.

In November 2010 the UNESCO declared to one of the World Cultural Heritages. Its popularity did already overcome the spanish borders and in Guatemala, Costa Rica, Panama, El Salvador and Puerto Rico there are numerous dancing schools to learn flamenco.  In Japan its that popular that there are even more dancing schools than in Spain!!

According to the lexicon of Real Academia Española, the “singing of flamenco” is “the awaking singing of Andalusia” and “the one and only singing of Andalusia, which consists in profound expressions of feelings”. The interpreter is called cantaor (singer of flamenco) instead of only “cantante” (singer) and the most important price for a singer of flamenco is probably La Llave de Oro del Cante (The golden key of singing).

The flamenco as a dance has different ways of performances but each of them consists in moderate movements. ¡¡Is healthy for your body and mind and is therefore also called “flamencoterapia”!!

In Spain there a courses of flamenco which are offered officially in different institutions of music and dance in different autonomous regions.
