The Holy Week is just around the corner and therefore we would like to share with you some important information about this really popular event in Spain in order for you to know what is it all about.
In March and according to the moon calender, the Easter week is celebrated. This event is a commemoration of the suffering, death and resurrection of Jesus and takes place from Palm Sunday to Easter Sunday.

During the Holy Week, Holy Thursday, Holy Friday and Easter Monday are public holidays. Some processions are held in the streets of Alicante and the most important one is the one taking place on Holy Wednesday: the procession of Santa Cruz. It leaves from the Chapel Santa Cruz, which one is located in the Barrio de Santa Cruz. Celebrating the Holy Week is a very old tradition held from the XVth century in Alicante. In total, 28 processions will take place during this week that was declared Festival of Tourist Interest in the Community of Valencia.
