Last weekend, our students were able to discover the beauty of the capitol of the province : Valencia. It was an opportunity for all of us to visit both the historic center and the new part of the city thanks to organized tour which allowed us to see the most important spots of this city.
We met at 9:00 a.m. in an important square of Alicante, called Luceros, and then we got on the bus which took us to Valencia.
After about 2 hours of travel we arrived at the destination and the first place we visited was the prehistoric museum of Valencia. In this museum, exhibitions feature exhibits coming from the most significant prehistoric eras, starting from the time of first hominidis up to times of homo sapiens. During the visit our students could learn by having fun thanks to some interactive games of the museum.
Our second stop in Valencia was the monument called “2 towers”,which in the past was a city gate and was called Torres de los Serrano. We climbed to the top where we could admire the city from above. As it was Sunday, entrance was for free ( during the rest of the week it costs 2 € ).
Afterwards, we continued our trip towards the basilica and the cathedral of Valencia, which are located in the historical center. The basilica is known to be the sanctuary of the Virgen de los Desamparados, important in this city because it was the saint patron of the ancient kingdom of Valencia. The cathedral, on the other hand, is known as Metropolitan Cathedral.
After visiting basilica and cathedrala we made a stop in order to try famous paella valenciana and it was delicious !
Our last stop during this excursion was the Ciudad de las Artes y las Ciencias which is a modern scientific complex located in a park with a spectacular landscape formed by a series of pools and fountains and connected to it a huge aquarium with more than 500 species of animals. For more information on the cost of entry tickets you can visite the website (https://www.cac.es/va/home/planea-tu-visita/horario-y-tarifas/tarifas.html)
